Very poor painting today. One step forward, two steps back. I tackled the pivotal "queen" figure in the painting and she's been a challenge. The turn of her head, the look of her eyes, the shape and angle of her arm to her mouth, the texture of her dress, nothing has gone smoothly. Here is what little headway I've made this week. On top of everything else, my pictures are blurry, as it was getting very dark and I can't use a flash.
Her eyes ought to convey rude arrogance, haughty indifference, and it must be her eyes alone that carry it because she is sucking her fingers. I've really set myself a task.
I wanted to make the gown a very shiny golden satin, as if she were clothed in a gown of flowing honey. But I'm no Rubens fer Chrissakes! I hacked away at this thing today for six hours. I'm pretty happy with the half of the gown I've finished, but I should have done twice as much in half the time!

heheh. It's that toucan-like profile that will give me away. Stupid big Polish nose. And thanks for calling me "Girl". It's mostly ma'am these days.
Hey, I *like* women with distinctive facial features! Remember, *I* certainly don't have a tiny beak, either...and, in fact, I find tiny little noses on weak, all-too-American features to be completely offputting. I don't like my women resembling small Chinese dogs.
And you'll always be "Girl" to me, toots....Even though you're only, like, a year younger than me. :) YOU still look young and vibrant and cool and stuff. *I* just look like a worn-out old drunkard anymore. He he heeeee. (It's funny because it's true.)

You know what makes you youthful? Spending time with children! And I happen to have a few. You should come watch them while I get some painting done.
You know..you photograph very well julie..such a piercing gaze..I feel quite naked!
Children make me itch. :) Well...not always. I seem to get along really well with kids around the ages of seven and up--I like that age because they're old enough to talk, and they've discovered social interaction at school, but their minds are still wide-open and voraciously hungry for information. Plus they like to play with G. I. Joes and Transformers.
The thing is, I still feel young and, to some degree, vibrant because I never allowed myself to grow up. I still think I'm fifteen!
niall- Naked! It's all right if you take it out. I hear it's nice out.
derek- oh,no. Once they start talking then they get that sassmouth. I like 'em when you can shake keys at them as entertainment.
