Making Cloaks for Gentlemen

Here I just blocked in some colors and put everyone where they ought to go. As you can see, I've chosen rose, green and yellow. So far so good. I've laid in a little bit of shadow on the wall. And I've begun the ornamentation on the screen. Birds again! I can't quite escape the motif. Here is a close-up of the screen. This photo makes the screen look a little more yellow than it is. But it was snowing- so I wasn't about to go outside and photograph it. You'll just have to come back another time. I worked very little on the gesture of the head/hair. If there is one thing that makes this composition "iffy" it's the similar heights of the two flanking figures. But I feel I might be able to make it work if they have very different gestures. I will exaggerate the small difference in their heights. I just didn't want to cover up too much of the "happening" on the canvas. Nor did I want my scissor-lady to slide down too far off of the canvas!
