I've settled on the name "The Automaton Magician" because that's what he is.

I had to take up some courage before I plunked down my magician, but here he is, beginning to be. He is an automaton magician, so maybe I will change the title to The Automaton Magician.

In terrible kitchen light. I must take another picture with the door open in the daylight. I think this forest seems like early summer or late spring. The canopy of leaves is not as thick as in late summer, and something about the sky whispered of spring thunderstorm, so I thickened the blue in the sky towards the right. It made the feeling a little more pronounced.

More progress on The Magician. I find it enjoyable to layer in and paw at the underbrush, but laying in the tree branches makes me a little nervous.

This is the third painting of a loosely connected series that are inspired by woods, forests, folk tales, a vague Victorian aesthetic, etc.
