New Sweater in Green

My knitting basket amongst the fallen leaves of the maple and catalpa tree. This is fingering weight wool yarn in the colors "clover" and "almond". I am working on the back of a new mens cardigan right now. I'm still looking for the right buttons for my brown, shawl collar cardigan. I used to take buttons for granted, but now I know, it's another one of those things that they don't make like they used to. I keep my eyes peeled for some nice vintage, largish, brown buttons. I know the right ones will come along someday. Not just any cheap, plastic, hollow-back buttons will do for my sweaters!

I was in the fabric store the other day and thought the very same thing about the buttons on display. They appear to be more for kid crafts then for actual garments. I'll have to remember you the next time I come across a flea market find.

We have a great shop down the road a bit that's all antique dealer booths. And yes, J.K., there is one devoted entirely to buttons.

I could run on down there and start taking photos. Just say the word.

I don't blame you. When you put the time and effort into knitting a sweater the buttons are important. I hope you're able to find the right ones.
