Caul
Caul. Original acrylic painting on acid free paper, approximately 8" x 10".
Portrait of a woman with a caul. It was once thought to be good luck to be born with part of the amniotic sac attached. This is a surrealistic portrait of a woman with the placenta worn as a veil. Inspired by vintage medical illustrations and some vintage photographs of dissections.
By Julie Kwiatkowski Schuler
The painting does not include the black bars of the "My Good Babushka" watermark included here for formatting and security purposes.
