The Collectors

Two little boys looking slightly wary seen in the woods with a sagittal slice of skull in a specimen jar. That seems about right.
I've added some butterflies to the final composition and here the listing in my etsy shop. The Collectors by My Good Babushka!

The Collectors

The Collectors, a painting in progress. I bribed my sons with some cookies and got them to pose for me. Matthew, the bigger one, had a very hard time keeping a straight face. I was trying to find something he could hold that would be the same size as the specimen jar that I meant to put in the painting. Holding the kitchen trash can really cracked him up for some reason.

The Collectors

Started to lay in my ghostly little forest wanderers. We'll get them solid and firmed up when I'm sure they are the right size in relation to each other, and their feet are sufficently upon the ground.

Story Illustration May 5, 2010

I've managed to cover all the area, but I still need to go back and tinker with the boy's appearance. He needs something, a little more of a pathological fuzziness about him. He's missing "it". It's strange, because the little girl sprung straight out of my brush already with "it". What's this kid's problem?

Story Illustration May 4

I was really unhappy with the way this face came out, I will be working with it again. It looks a little manic, and too well defined. I sort of like the ambiguous, shadowy appearance of the first illustration. This one has too much Campbell soup kid about him.

Phone it in Friday

Some pics of the family from our recent Easter excursion to grandma's. Here is Cousin Gregory putting Matthew to bed. My handsome nephew is graduating this year! I remember I was about to graduate from the same school, when I got to tell all my classmates I was a newly minted aunt! Where does the time go?

Putting Justin to bed.

Two sleepy boys.

Having some bunny/birthday cake.

And here are my boys enjoying a Bozo bop bag, sent to us by our lovely and dear friend, Roxanne from Philadelphia. We are lucky to have her!
