Eating Bread and Honey

I have been going all over my porch, looking for a good place to photograph, but the lousy winter light just keeps bouncing in and making a glare no matter where I go.
I have been working on the cabinet, of course. Difficult for me, doing straight lines and architectural things. I also sketched in some of the bread and vessels of honey. This work delights me more and more. Glass vessels are so automatically interesting, and to have a theme where you can put them all over as much as you like. It's very fun. It's also fun to not be at all subtle, and I think for my little joke, I will put illustrations of bees at the top of the cabinet, in those little vignettes. Once you see it completed, you will see my joke, if you haven't guessed it already.

I have used iridescent acrylic gold paint for some of the gilding, but it is inferior to real gold leaf. I have a bottle of gold leaf somewhere, but I didn't feel like going down to the basement for my solvents.

I am learning so much watching your paintings develop..I'll soon have the confidence to get going with my own paints!
