Beach Themed Keepsake Box

I was asked to make a keepsake box, and I really wanted to try to find a nicer, deeper box, but excursions to several craft proved fruitless. I ended up getting an unfinished cigar-style box. I noticed several of the boxes were very poorly made, the wood was split, the latches were broken or didn't fasten, and hinges were crooked or missing. I don't know why craft stores leave damaged merchandise out, and at full price, too. Anyway, that's my complaint for today. Hope you like the cheery little beach scene.

Would that be Hawaii? That's how I picture it anyway...the beach with a mountain in the background. Very nice.

I agree. They need to pull or reduce the damaged stuff. Why take up shelf space with stuff that isn't going to sell anyway?

I do like it, and I like the idea of asking you to paint something special on a box as a gift for someone. I'm getting all sorts of ideas here...
