The sketch and bare beginning of a new painting I'm making from a vintage photo. The back of this little photograph is dated 1932-3 and features very elegant ladies at a dining table. My husband thinks it looks "Last Suppery" and I guess it really can't help but invoke that very famous scene. That's really not what I'm going for, but at this point I don't know how to avoid it. Maybe a solution will present itself along the way. Or else I will make peace with the fact that it will always remind everyone of the Last Supper!
