Doctor Solar's Fantasy Portrait

Painting in progress on a custom portrait today.

Three Women in the Kitchen

Here is an update for my 9" x 12" painting on canvas in progress. Taken from a vintage photo. Three women in a kitchen. It is my understanding that the woman in the blue dress is the daughter-in-law of the woman in the orange dress, and the woman in the orange dress is the daughter-in-law of the woman in the black coat. I love the cosy, homey, kitchen scene.

If you want a portrait my rates are as follows:
For a straightforward portrait-
9" x 12".....$100.00
11" x 14"....$200.00
16" x 20"....$300.00
18" x 24"....$400.00
22" x 28"....$500.00
24" x 36"....$600.00

Child Portrait in Progress

Nearly finished now. I included a detail pic of the juicy baby hand, always a favorite, second only to baby niblet toes.

Child Portrait in Progress

Child portraits are always challenging because their faces lack the defining landmarks, shadows, wrinkles, etc. of adult faces. Just all plump and dewy. It's also tempting to really overemphasize the pinkness. I usually temper it with a nice pale green. I think that gives a good light-skinned child's skin tone. This cheek is still a little bit too pink, but I'm going to let it dry a while before I go back in.

Portrait of a Child

I began this portrait on a day when some folks showed up to audit the energy efficiency of our apartment. O bother! So I just sketched it in, basically and noodled around while they were going upstairs and downstairs, nebbing around and asking questions. I only found the notice in the door after I had started. Oh well, a start is a start.
