Brother Rush, The Devil in the Monastery
Painting inspired by a medieval German folk tale about the devil who infiltrates a monastery, he kills and cooks the cook, and takes his place, causing much mischief and calamity. It was a good excuse to paint a big, gooey head on a platter.

Brother Rush. Friar Rush. Medieval German Folk Lore
The devil kills and cooks the cook in a monastery, taking over, disguising himself as a monk and causing calamity. My Friar Rush is carrying the cooks head on a platter under a room of fan vaults. At one point, I thought I'd like a stained glass window, but then I took it out. I want to keep a simple palette with that nice brown cloak.

Brother Rush. Friar Rush
There is a medieval German folk tale about the devil disguising himself as a monk and infiltrating a monastery, where he causes much mischief. He kills and cooks the cook. I've been sketching a little on the theme, but have landed on nothing firm as yet.
