The Merrow. Mermaid

Original painting, acrylic on paper, approximately 8" x 10" of the Irish or Scottish mythological creature, the Merrow. Mermaid.

The painting does not contain the "My Good Babushka" watermark, it was included here for security purposes.

The Merrow. Mermaid

Merrow is the Irish folklore term for a mermaid. I've decided to put her in a dark little pool.

Mermaid Embroidery

I went to make some blog, and I reached into my folder called "bloggoing" which means things "going" on my "blog" of course, and there was just this one thing in there! What the heck?!
Oh yeah, there was that week my husband was sick the whole time. This is all his fault.
I've got to go get my camera and get busy.

Mermaid Embroidery

I put it in the scanner. It worked out pretty well. It's going, very slow and wrinkly, but it's going. Someday, it will even be done.

Mermaid Embroidery

Here is the very slow progress on my Mermaid embroidery. It tends to make my hands very dry. I don't know why that is. Knitting doesn't seem to do it, but embroidery really dries my fingers out. I'm going to soak in some Gold Bond Lotion and hopefully have some updates to this project before long.

Mermaid Embroidery

I've been working on this embroidery for a little while. I had this nice shimmery remnant of greenish fabric and I thought a mermaid would be the perfect thing for it. The design is sort of a mash up between a mid-nineteenth century illustration and an art nouveau-ish sort of thing. I think it will really pop if I make a halo of red coral lace and other sea-things around her.
