There is a folk- tale feeling to this painting of a young girl, beleaguered and scratched by a warren of rabbits. She is in the process of dispatching them for hasenpfeffer. I worked on the portrait of the girl butcher using my youngest son as a reference. It came out to look a little like me as a child, but that's because my son looks very much like me.

Hasenpfeffer

Making Hasenpfeffer. This might be my most "ashcan" of palettes. A lot of brown. I worked today on getting the rabbit hides nailed to the wall, and adding the sufficient amount of  blood-staining.
