Abecedarium of Demise: The Letter R

Ramona was a Recluse who never went to town.
She Read archaic Runes and wore a long black gown.

The Reverend said she was a witch and that she must Repent.
She expired on the Rack to the town's great merriment.

Poor Ramona. Its hard to believe many years ago that could have been a true story. I wonder what happened to her cat.

I like the first drawing, though I think she is accused of something unproven, poor Ramona

Poor poor Ramona. Isn't it interesting that most of your comments this week express sympathy for the victim? I truly feel awful for all the women in history who were accused and burned as witches for no reason other than they were widowed. Or they grew healing herbs in their garden.

Poor Ramona was doomed! I love her black cat.

I loved the paintings of your Mom and grandmother in her beautiful wedding dress in a prior post. Such treasures!

Poor Ramona! I guess they showed her!

Was Ramona a Redhead?
I think they probably called her La Rousse like the character in the book I'm reading now,"The Virgin Blue".
Great post as always.

Excellent post, though my heart hurts for Ramona. Why couldn't they just let her be?

Actually to me this is heartbreaking. I guess I take it too seriously. But I was so identifying with Ramona in the 1st drawing. Also, being a Christian, I am so grieved over this period in history - not really understanding it and wondering what happened to truth and love. Have you ever read "The Witch of Blackbird Pond?" It's a great book. (BTW I just had to stop by even though you weren't along my alphabet way this week.)

Poor Ramona never had a chance.

I don't think I'll be in Pennsylvania any time soon. The last time was during a snow storm when the plane couldn't land in Cleveland and we had to circle and then fly to Pittsburgh to refuel. I probably won't be back for a while. :)

Does anything scare you Miss Julie?

Your mind really fascinates me...the twists and turns it takes.

And how you get your simple drawings to so eloquently express emotion in so few strokes is just an amazement to me.

Another creative masterpiece from a macabre, artistic genius!
