100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge!! The Who

I feel like it's taking me a long time to get finished with this painting. It's the time of year when my hands get very dry and painting makes them worse. I will soldier on. And maybe get out the humidifier.

100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge!! Nirvana

The Hard Rock Portrait Challenge (self-inflicted) rolls on with this little painting of the influential, but sadly brief band, Nirvana. I remember listening to Nirvana during my senior year at high school, in the car, and while working late nights closing our local Burger King. Smells Like Teen Spirit was one of the first songs my older son really liked, that he really wanted to own. I think it may be the first song we downloaded for him. I showed him my old scratched up cassette, but unfortunately, we don't have the technology to play it anymore! Sometimes I try to put it out on a timeline in my mind, and I think that my son liking Smells Like Teen Spirit would be like me, at his age, really liking The Twist. It doesn't seem like so much time has passed, but I guess it never does.

Jimi Hendrix 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge!!

Jimi Hendrix is number three on VH1's List on 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists, and if you are new around here you might be interested to know that I've set myself the task of painting all the artists on the list. This one I've decided to do in a nice warm palette of sepias and umbers.

Black Sabbath 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge!!

I've chosen this picture of a very young Black Sabbath with a yellow background. I liked the way they were sitting in relation to each other. I thought it made a good composition.

Jimmy Page 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge

I chose this limited palette rendition of Jimmy Page, just because I thought it was a good rock pose. I only found out through a friend that this is an atypical shot of Page "playing a Telly instead of his signature Les Paul". So now I've learned something. It is an 8" x 10" acrylic portrait on canvas available at My Good Babushka!
