James Hetfield 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge and a Giant Strawberry

First of all, you have to see this giant strawberry! It's nearly as big as my five year old's head! I think it came from the monster's feast table in Pan's Labyrinth. I better draw a door and get through it.

Then I did two James Hetfield portraits. One recent and one from before. You can find them both at my etsy shop. My Good Babushka! I'll probably take a break from rock portraits for a bit.

Metallica 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge!!

Very cool tones throughout this picture. Steely.
I saw Metallica twice. Once when I was fourteen on the "And Justice For All" Tour and once when I was seventeen. Or maybe eighteen. I think they played with Guns n' Roses and Faith No More at the old Three Rivers Stadium. That was a surprise. I went to work at Burger King that day and my co-worker said she was going to have her brother work my shift because I was going to go with her to this concert. Fun stuff like that rarely happens to me anymore!

Here is Metallica at My Good Babushka.

Metallica 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge!!

9" x 12" acrylic on paper painting of Metallica. I had trouble settling on a picture because Metallica gets a bit hammy with the photographs. I really didn't want any snarling or sneering. I'm not very happy that they all have dark glasses on, but I picked this picture anyway because the repetition of the glasses and black clothes is somewhat interesting. They are like a heavy metal picket fence.

AC/DC 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists Portrait Challenge

I think I may have chosen a picture that's a bit too small, with low resolution, but I'm going to press ahead and make the most of it. My boys really like AC/DC. Especially "Who Made Who". They like the Maximum Overdrive version of the video best. And who wouldn't!? It kicks ass.
