Whispering to the Black Rabbit

Adding some fairy tale elements to my forest landscape. Inspired by the Irish folk belief in the the púca, or phooka. Considered to be bringers both of good and bad fortune. The creatures were said to be shape changers which could take the appearance of black horses, goats and rabbits. I picked a rabbit, because I always pick rabbits, I guess.

The Colt-Pixy

The Colt-Pixy is the name for a mischievous fairy, which takes the shape of a horse and neighs to the horses of travelers, leading them astray into bogs. In this painting I've re-imagined the Colt-Pixy as a bit of a steampunk, taxidermy contraption. If you are in a hurry, you can see the finished Colt-Pixy painting at My Good Babushka.

Some Sketches

Just some sketches today. Ideas. The first two sketches are on the theme of the Colt Pixy, a malicious spirit that whinnies in the deep forests and bogs, luring travelers to their doom, thinking they are recovering  a lost pony.

The bottom sketch is a preliminary for Fanny Adams. A young girl very brutally murdered in 1867 and the curious genesis of the phrase "Sweet Fanny Adams!". The Story of Sweet Fanny Adams for your edification.
