Skinny Minnie on Windy Wash Day
I had so many interruptions while I was working on this painting, but I've finally reached a place where I can be satisfied with it. I like the loose, flat, brushy white areas contrasting with the tighter painting on the face of the vintage young lady. Her name isn't really Minnie. She's my aunt and her name is Dolores. This picture was taken in the mid-forties. There was nothing wrong with her, she was just really, really skinny.

White Sweater
In these times of woe and want, I am thinking of moving into making more practical items, like clothes and blankets. I would prefer to use organic wools and cottons, but right now, I have a bit of a stash of acrylic yarn to use up. I am not a yarn snob. I actually like acrylic. It is hypoallergenic and durable, and very easy to machine wash and dry. I actually think it is better for kids clothes, which need to be washed often. Unfortunately, it lacks the prestige of pure cotton and wool. I am trying to use up my stash of acrylic and make some nice, serviceable items which will soon be in my etsy shop for a very reasonable price. Here I am sewing the seams on girl sized sweater, probably about a size 4-5.
