I spent a very brief time on my Three Anatomists painting. This will be doctor number one. I need to get this paper mounted on a board, though. It is very hard to paint on paper, even when it's gessoed. It gets too warpy.
I've almost got half of the portraits done! There is something very satisfying, for me, about portraiture. There is nothing that can be so interesting in so many different ways as a human face, and the gesture of a hand.
I found out a little bit more about this picture. It was taken in the mid-forties. It is my grandfather with his PNA bowling league at the Polish Club. It hung on the wall at the club for many years, then my grandmother had it amongst her photographs. Now I have it. I'm trying not to get paint on it!
