Sebastian Give Zoe the Voice of a Nightingale
A surreal little painting 8" x 10" acrylic on acid free paper. Sebastian Gives Zoe the Voice of a Nightingale is partially inspired by the story of Saint Sebastian miraculously restoring a voice to the mute woman, Zoe, and in part, from an interest in the wax cylinder recording process, 19th century recording technology.
Original painting by Julie Kwiatkowski Schuler. Does not contain the "My Good Babushka" watermark included here for security purposes.

Fabian
Fabian. Original 8" x 10" acrylic on acid-free paper painting by Julie Kwiatkowski Schuler.
St. Fabian was appointed pope in the 3rd century. He is famous for the miraculous nature of his election, in which a dove is said to have descended on his head to mark him as the Holy Spirit's unexpected choice to become the next pope. This painting is loosely based on that story
The painting does not contain the black bars or the "My Good Babushka" watermark which were included here for formatting and security purposes.

Fabian
Fabian, work in progress. I was inspired by the story of St. Fabian, a bird landed on his head, and he was chosen to be pope. I was also thinking a lot of this picture of King Charles of Sweden, this mummified head with a hole in it.
My husband was walking by and said I was painting Music Jail . This picture is from the video "Music Jail Parts 1 and 2" by They Might Be Giants.
I guess it might be all these things!

Lover's Revenge
I have some notes that I jotted down, I assume they are from W.C. Hazlitt's Dictionary of Faiths and Folklore, but I'm not sure. Something about taking revenge on an unfaithful lover by sticking pins into a bird's heart via sympathetic magic. I seem to have left out any particulars, like the kind of bird, so I'm going to make it up. I picked a black swan.

Some Embroidery
I made this little embroidered pillow, and even crocheted the lace around it. I don't think I will sell it, though, as it is a little wonky looking. I'll keep it for myself. You can see some Hand Embroidered Art that passes muster at My Good Babushka. It's back to the drawing board for me.
