In Loco Delicioso

I think I'm in love with this two-fisted watermelon eater in the red dress. There's a woman who want to get right down to it.

Watermelon Party- Finished

I think I'm finished. This is a little painting, only 9" x 9". Phew! So much work for such a little square.

Watermelon Party

Whipping the last two gentlemen into shape. This has been a slow and erratic sort of project, so I hope it finds some cohesiveness at the end. I think it will.

Like many of you, I'm going to be putting toys together and eating a lot of food and visiting my family. So I'll be back in a few days. I've already made my New Year's resolution to work twice as hard as last year, so there will be more projects and paintings and stories and illustrations and sometimes knitting. I promise.

Watermelon Party Painting

There's really no excuse. I should have finished this painting weeks ago. I don't know why I'm being so pokey....

Watermelon Party Day 5

I feel pretty happy with the right side of this group portrait, except for needing some shadows on the arms of the woman in front, and on the table. Now the gents get a turn.

Watermelon Party Day 4

Mostly worked on the woman's face on the far right, and re-outlined the two men on the left of the table to be bigger.

Watermelon Party. Day 1

I purchased a copy of this Watermelon Party picture (my title) from a great curator of vintage photos, his blog is here: Could it be Madness-this?
I am taking a great many liberties with it, as you can see. I have changed the background and simplified the lines a great deal. I've changed the tones to pinks and greens, because I want to carry those watermelon colors all throughout.
I am trying to paint the tiny portraits of the watermelon eaters with a certain degree of fidelity, even if the palette is changed.
