Bright colors of French cotton floss pop against the background of black cotton on this hand embroidered pillow 12" x 12". Five shisha mirrors are sewn on with my special needle weaving dahlia stitch. The pillow features lots of chain stitch and double chain stitch as well. All hand embroidered and hand constructed. Stuffed with hypoallergenic polyester fiber fill. Spot clean when necessary.

Two Skulls Hand Embroidered Pillow with Shisha Mirrors

Five shisha mirrors sewn on and lots of chain stitch. I wasn't sure I was going to like it until I started putting in the flowers. I think it's shaping up now.

Dia De Los Muertos Skull Pillow with Shisha

I've already got four shisha on this pillow. I'm going to add three more flanking each side of the skull. So far I'm using chain stitch. Come back and see how it turns out. The blanket stitch border is just to keep my fabric from ravelling, I will remove that when I sew the pillow together.

Silver Skull Pillow with Shisha

Skull motif hand embroidered with silvery grey cotton floss and metallic silver thread. Features shisha -mirrors held in place with a special needle weaving technique. Lots of chain stitch, diamond ladder stitch, and double chain stitch. Embroidered on black cotton ground and hand sewn together. This pillow is stuffed with hypoallergenic polyester fiber and is approximately 12" x 12". The back is plain black cotton. One of a kind piece. Spot clean when necessary.

Silver and Black Shisha Skull Pillow

 Working on a shisha skull embroidery in a limited palette of silver-gray cotton floss and silver metallic thread. This is in my special shisha stitch that I made up, chain stitch and double chain stitch, also a little bit of running stitch on a black cotton ground fabric. It reminds me of Johnny Cash.

Here is my golden yellow afghan in progress. A nice, simple back and forth project with no counting or sizing for a change.

Dia de los Muertos-Sugar Skull, Shisha Skull Embroidery

Here is my finished shisha skull embroidery. This is a 12" x 12" all hand embroidered and hand constructed pillow. One of a kind.  This one is sold, but you can find similar ones in the Embroidery Section at  My Good Babushka.

Work in progress on my shisha sugar skull embroidery. Mostly this is chain stitch. I will try to get some closer shots in better light next time. From beneath my embroidery project, you can see my yellow afghan just peeking out from behind.

Skull Embroidery with Shisha

I've decided to make a colorful skull embroidery, dia de los muertos style, on black cotton. This will make the bright colors look extra bright. I've decided to add some shisha mirrors to the skull, in the eye sockets. I had to remember how to do it, but after a few false starts, I got it down.
