K is for Keelhauling and Miscellaneous Embroidery

K is for Keelhauling, part of my Abecedarian of Demise Embroidery project, and also a little rabbit and flowers embroidery that I started to use up my odd bits of leftover floss.

Embroidery in Progress

I finished this little hand embroidered Matryoshka Ornament. It is at My Good Babushka.

I am going to start this larger piece next. It's not all drawn in yet, but I'm going to start there at the bottom and fill it in as I go up.

Custom Hand Embroidered Fox Pillow

I made a custom hand-embroidered fox pillow to go along with the rabbit pillow. They look very nice together. These are approximately 8.5" 11" and  9" x 12".

St. Anastasia, Patroness of Weavers, Protectress from Poisons

Continuing to put my nine herbs from the Anglo-Saxon nine herbs charm into the apothecary cabinet, I've added chamomile to the top right, then underneath I've added nettles and crab apple. Flanking the apothecary cabinet are angel trumpets and foxglove, both noted for their poisonous properties. In the air are golden weaver birds because St. Anastasia is the patroness of weaver. She was also a noted exorcist, so her apothecary cabinet says "Satana Ipse Venina Bibas" or "Satan, take the poison yourself."

Ring Around the Rosy

Making a folky sort of embroidered picture. Instead of chain stitch like I've been using for my embroidered skulls, I'm going to fill this in with brick stitches.

Dia De Los Muertos Skull Pillow with Shisha

I've already got four shisha on this pillow. I'm going to add three more flanking each side of the skull. So far I'm using chain stitch. Come back and see how it turns out. The blanket stitch border is just to keep my fabric from ravelling, I will remove that when I sew the pillow together.

Matryoshka Embroidery

Putting in some more flowers and green grass. I took the second picture at night, that's why it has a gloomy yellowish cast.

Embroidery

I was hoping I would figure out what was going to go into the middle panel by the time I finished the side columns. It's getting tight! I still don't know!

New Embroidery Without a Name Yet

I can't go long without starting a new embroidery. I don't have too much of a plan here, but I jumped in anyway. I see two border strips on either side with fantasy floral vines and blue background, but what's next? Filling in these backgrounds with brick stitch will give me some time to think.
