Yellow Afghan

 

I'm taking a break from sweaters and making a nice, relaxing afghan. It's just back and forth, a nice practical rib pattern.

Dandelion Cardigan

 The Back.

 The Back and one pocket lining.

One side of the front, the left front, I think. I decided to add some cabling up either side. This will be a ladies' medium-ish cardigan. I'm using cotton yarn. Scrumptious and machine washable!

Green Cardigan

I bought some acrylic yarn for this mens sweater. I think wool feels very nice and luxurious, but it is a little fussy when it comes to washing. This acrylic yarn is such a pretty shade of green, I thought it would make a lovely, easy care cardigan. I am trying out a new vintage pattern that features cables. I think the acrylic yarn will keep the cable stitches nicely defined. The ribbing for the back hem is on the needles, so away we go!

Blue Shawl Collar Cardigan

Continuing on with bluey blue things, I am making a woman's shawl collar cardigan with a "broken rib" pattern. Here I've knit the back, have the two pocket linings on a holder, and I've finished one of the fronts.

Catch-All

Some unrelated items to clean up the camera. I'm making an orange blanket for my youngest son. I've tried to talk him into having a different favorite color, but there you have it. He must have orange. When I visited my mother last month, she gave me a big bag of yarn. It will be a challenge to make something out of it. Just the kind of challenge I like. I have made a few shawl collar cardigans in adult sizes, so I think it will be a snap to make this pint size shawl collar cardigan with some leftover bramble heather yarn. I've renamed it "root beer heather" because I think it has more youth appeal. Last, a picture of my freshly painted living room. I love color, but I've been very timid about putting it on my walls. I have an assortment of paintings I'm going to hang soon, but here is how the living room looks, pre-art hanging. I love it. It's so golden and warm. I'm glad I took the plunge. That carpet, though. Yuck. It's gotta go.

Scarf!

I made a scarf with some leftover bits. I knitted it in a tube, which I think is a superior way to make a scarf, no rolling up on the edges, extra thick and warm. You can see the finished scarf at my etsy site. Roses and Cocoa Striped Scarf. It has a happy fringe!

Pink Sweater

I just couldn't leave my vintage magazines alone! Here I am rewriting and knitting up a sweater based on another vintage pattern. This will be a ladies small. Here is the back about half done.

Winter White with Cables

Thought I'd show you what's on the needles! My mom gave me some acrylic worsted weight yarn. I picked this cable and ridge pattern and cast on 300 stitches. Just gonna knit it like this 'til the yarn runs out. Then I got some good deals from Patternworks Bargain Bin. Seriously, if you like knitting go over there right now. You can get yarn in 10 skein bags. It's time to stock up for winter knitting.

Spinning!

I decided to try my hand at spinning. It is very easy to do, but it is very hard to do well! You can see my yarn is a little bit thick n' thin and doesn't quite stay the same all the way through. Still, I think this is good for a first try, and I can't wait to get some more roving and try again.

A box of yarn!

I bought myself some yarn! I have a lot of fingering weight wool in "suede" that I'm going to try to knit a dress with. I also bought three skeins of a silvery yarn that is a silk and wool blend. I thought it would make a nice shawl.

Cadet Blue Sweater Jacket Interlude

Two fronts and one sleeve! This sweater has pockets and collar and interfacing, so... still lots of little bits to go. This is the last of my yarn, and I'm getting the itch to buy some more. I have been thinking of going the whole way and knitting myself a dress. I'm having a terrible time picking a color that I think I will look good in, though. Maybe something neutral would be best.

Meh-Isle Sweater- Finished

I finished this tutti-frutti sweater and was going to list in on my etsy site, but decided instead to give it to one of my son's classmates. She and her family lost a lot of their clothes in a fire, and they especially needed some warm winter clothes. I'm glad she likes pink!

Jester and Owl. Knitted Soft Sculpture Dolls

Two little dolls, handknitted in a silky boucle style acrylic yarn, Lion's Brand.

Knitted Jester

I made this knitted jester for a friend. She provided the yarn. Oddly enough, this was the very same brand and color yarn that my friend, Jenny Matlock, sent me a while back. Quartz, Lion Brand Homespun, I think. It must be very popular.

Purple Cabled Sweater

I have a few skeins of this purple yarn. I am making a cabled sweater size 2-3. I was inspired by a vintage pattern. I like the simple look of vintage knits, but I didn't take the pattern directly. I found the pattern to be incorrect! I guess there were typos even in the fifties! But I took a look at the picture and got the gist of it, so I wrote little instructions for myself, for this simple cabled sweater. This is the back.

Matthew really liked the color of this yarn and I was going to make something for him, but I just didn't have enough purple yarn! I promised to make him something else, later.

String of Black Pearls

This project is still very "bunchy". I wanted to stretch it out so you can see the "string of pearls" pattern, but it is pretty slick and I don't want it to slip off the needles. You'll have to wait until it's a little longer.

New Toddler Sweater

I have been nutsin' around with some vintage sweater patterns. I don't have the correct gauge yarn, so I was experimenting and rewriting with the yarn I have on hand. This sweater will be a toddler size 2-3. I love the pony. There will be a pink pony on each side of the front, above the pockets.
