Milk for Blood
Work in progress. Inspired by the story of St. Catherine and various other martyrs whose wounds bled milk. I tried to imagine a practical purpose for such a gift. I think I also blended it in with the idea of nursing, and how it can be tedious and isolating and tiring.

Blue Bunny Embroidery
I like that the palette reminds me of blue willow china. I am filling in the background with a cream brick stitch. It's very labor intensive, but I think it will make the piece really stand out and be different.

Blue Bunny and Red Sweater
Some needlework for today. A rabbit embroidery in blue, and the left front of a cardigan in progress. This is in cotton, my first cardigan in cotton. It feels wonderfully soft.

Blue Bunny
I don't know what possessed me, but I jumped right into another embroidery project. I felt like making a blue bunny, in all very blue colors.

The Woodcutters
Much happier with the background now that I've mixed in a good amount of yellow ocher, crimson, burnt sienna- given it some warmer touches.

Embroidered Choker
I'm trying something new. I've taken this little band of cotton and I'm going to embroider it and turn it into a choker/ necklace sort of thing. I might crochet lace to sew around the outside. I'm not sure about the closure. Hook and eye? Velcro? We'll see.

Blue Shawl Collar Cardigan
Continuing on with bluey blue things, I am making a woman's shawl collar cardigan with a "broken rib" pattern. Here I've knit the back, have the two pocket linings on a holder, and I've finished one of the fronts.

Blue Forest
The background for my blue forest painting is finished! I tried to hint at some forget me nots in the right foreground. I love their shade of blue.

Blue Forest
More progress on my blue forest painting. Ok. I'm a little annoyed that blogger is scrambling the pictures I'm trying to upload. Why do they always come up out of order? They didn't used to do that.

Blue Forest
Layering in some trees shapes. Giving it a very smoky, foggy look. I feel like my days of working on the porch are drawing to a close. I'm sad that summer's over, but I'm looking forward to good things like hot soup and pumpkin pies and wearing babushkas tied under my chin. There are no end to the delights in the world. Keep it a full and merry place by surprising someone with a kindness or good word today. Try it, you'll like it.

Broken Rib Blue Cardigan
I've gone through some lengths to reformulate some vintage cardigan patterns to fit modern available yarns and have been really happy with the results. Now I'm taking the reformulated pattern and changing it again. This time I'm sizing it down for a woman's cardigan, reversing the buttonholes (yuck, I can never keep my lefts and rights straight as to which side gets the buttons) and adding a nice pattern, a very easy "broken rib" pattern, but I think it has a lot of visual interest and will make the sweater a little more curve-fitting for a woman. I haven't decided if I will add a shawl collar, also in pattern, or plain border band. But as you can see, I've only just cast on, so I have some time to decide.
This is a very pretty deep blue heather. You'll see it's full, jewel tone flavor once I get going.
